Exolon. Episode II: New Wave

Aliens and extra terrestrial intelligence have always been a fascinating subject for people of all ages and a matter of research for astronomers and other space research agencies. There have been various instances of UFO sightings in the past which raises concerns over the matter and we have developed a strong belief towards the existence of these creatures and many people have a fear of total conquest of mankind by these aliens. Taking this theme, a number of movies, games and cartoon series have been developed, where the games give an opportunity to the players to act against the extra terrestrial enemy forces. One such game is Exolon Episode II: New Wave v.1.1.

Exolon Episode II: New Wave v.1.1 by ZX Games is a shareware game with a theme of alien invasions over the planet. The game provides the player with a nice, action filled experience with its realistically designed 3D interface. All the celestial bodies in the game are designed with clear colors and HUD display is shown at the bottom. The player’s character is an astronomer dressed with the special suit and basically has a gun and missile as armaments with limited shots for taking down the enemies. At the bottom of the screen, you can find a clear display of the remaining shots aligned on the left hand side and the number of lives left with the player is shown in the center of the screen. Your enemies will comprise of various fictitious objects and machines and as a saver of your planet, you have to stand-up against the enemy attacks.

To sum up, Exolon Episode II: New Wave is a nice game and definitely deserves a high score with its graphics quality and the theme of the gameplay. Hence, it receives a score of three-and-a-half rating points on the scale of five.

Blob, blob, blob... What are these again? Sundogs? Plashes of sunlight rushing in from your peripheral vision - the unhealthy result of exhaustion from completing the one hundred original levels all in one sitting?
Oh no, these are the bubbles again - not pink cheery bubbles on a perfect summer morning, but numb and silent anaerobic floaters on the dark and gelid planet.
Are they conscious? Are they trying to tell something? Could it be a friendly attempt to make the first ever human-alien contact?
Well, who cares, no time to think, goddammit, just blast the living hell out of them all... What else do you have a rifle and a missile launcher for? Would be a shame not to use it.
